Player ratings and flight recommendations. Alpine is the top flight, Briar the middle, Coastline the entry flight.
Each match gives a rating between 1 and 10:
level baseline
− 0.6 × (line − 1)
+ (game-win % − 0.5) × 2.5
The level baseline isn't a fixed AA/A/B/C table — it's calibrated off whatever levels our players have actually faced. The toughest level anyone's played this season is anchored at 9.0, and every other level sits below it, spaced the same way lines are (a lower number within a level means tougher competition, the same as Line 1 being tougher than Line 2). That way an unused AA tier doesn't quietly reserve headroom nobody can reach. Here's what that looks like with the levels actually in play right now:
Game-win % still nudges the rating within that, but it can't outweigh a full level or line of difficulty. A player's overall rating is the average across every match they've played. Players with no recorded matches show as NR (not yet rated) until they play.
Flights are filled from the top down within each category: the highest-rated players in that category become Alpine, the next group Briar, the rest Coastline — not by hitting a fixed skill level, so flights size themselves to whatever range of players we actually have.
